Slides 101

I made this for my 9 year old. He’d been doing a lot of presentations and most of them involved reading from some very busy slides.

Sound familiar?

Yup, it happens far too often in the workplace too. If you're guilty of it yourself, no worries, your next slides will be a whole lot better. All you need to do is apply the pointers below:

TITLE should stand out and be meaningful/relevant. Ideally should express the key message or take away from that slide.

BODY TEXT should be minimal – in point form rather than full sentences so you can speak to it. This is key!

PICTURE should be good quality and relevant to the content on the slide. This can be any graphic including images, charts, icons, graphs, etc.

EACH SLIDE should speak to one idea.

WHITE SPACE is the empty space around your text, graphics, logo, etc. Maximise this space.

These points are geared towards the standard slide template. If you really want to get fancy there's so much more you can do...but you gotta' start with the basics.
