We’re now into month 9 of remote working and it’s pretty amazing to see how we’ve adapted. Now that we’re pros at virtual working, it’s time we work on our virtual image – what we project through the camera. By following a few simple pointers, you can greatly improve the experience for your ‘audience’, be a more engaging speaker, and you’ll look like a pro. Win-win-win.

With that in mind, I’ve been sharing tips on how to set yourself up for the camera. In this video, you’ll see what should (and should NOT) be included in your shot.

60 Seconds with Soapbox: Episode 8

Key take-aways:

  1. Get your angle right (check out this video)

  2. Little or no space between your head and the top of the frame

  3. Face and shoulders fine for meetings, can include elbows for presentations

  4. Background should be interesting, not distracting

  5. Clean up your mess (and anything potentially embarrassing)
